Review - The Fourth Kind

The Fourth Kind is a strange film. In a film that goes down the 'real' footage path, it gives it a new spin by having real actors recreating the 'real' footage which was done by other actors. It is an effective ploy that does help drag you into the story.
The plot revolves around Dr Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovoich), a psychologist that is helping some of the traumatised people in Nome, Alaska. They know something happened to them and they all exhibit the same symptoms but can't remember what happened. Dr Tyler then suggests going under hypnosis to remember and it's under this hypnosis that the horrible truth of what happened is revealed.
There are many good moments in this film, with a few jump scares to keep you on your toes. Jovoich is ok, acting well enough to keep the story going but Elias Koteas and Will Patton certainly out act her. However, I think the true stars are all the 'real' people in the video taped hypnosis sessions. Some very good performances from them give the film a base in 'truth'. All in all, a good way to spend a couple of hours. Although I guarantee that you will never trust another Owl again.
