Review - Shocker

Horace Pinker? The award for least scariest name for a film killer ever? Maybe.

Wes Craven's crazy thriller - Shocker -  about a dead killer that can possess the living has just about every idea ever thought of in Wes' head thrown into the one film. Some of it sticks and works nicely, however most of it doesn't stick and falls to the ground with a plop.
It seems like a satire on TV violence or technology in general, with all the TVs in the film showing the violence that TV news captures and with the killer being able to use anything electronic to move about when he doesn't have a body handy, some of Craven's comments on the TV violence find their mark but as whole the message isn't fully realised.
The acting is barely passable but Craven knows his stuff and as such the film flows well, a hair metal soundtrack certainly doesn't suit the film, nor does the ridiculous ending.
I'll finish with a not quite haiku that pretty much sums up the film

Horace Pinker Yes?
Forgotten Villain Kills More
Limp Stab TV Possession

Bye for now.
