Review - Bridesmaids

The chick flick comedy gets a much needed makeover as Kristen Wiig and co, prove that they are just as funny as the guys.
In Bridesmaids - Wiig stars as Annie, a down on her luck, down on her life woman that can't seem to get her life straight. When her best friend Lillian (Maya Rudolph) drops the bombshell that she is getting married,  it throws Annie into a cycle of craziness which impacts on her duties as the maid of honour and as Lillian's friend.
Wiig and Rudolph are great together, they really do give off the impression of best friends that have known each other forever (which I'm led to believe they worked on SNL together...) so that shines through.
The film keeps up a pretty good pace, except it does get slightly lost in the 2nd half, as it seems the film isn't sure whether it wants to go the chick flick route and the raunchy comedy route and gets stuck between the two.
The other bridesmaids make the film, with most of the them given limited time but they squeeze all they can out of that time. Both Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne get more of the screen time as two of the bridesmaids with the former, absolutely nailing her part.
A film that guys can take their girls to and get a laugh out of, without rolling their eyes. Sure Bridesmaids is in the end a predictable comedy but it's the willingness to get down and dirty, that is very refreshing.
