Review - The Avengers

A fanboys wet dream finally realised.
The Avengers Marvel's long mooted but now fully realised film is here. With Joss Whedon (the Fanboy's fanboy) taking on the writing and directing, you know that the film is going to be action packed but with a line of humour running through it.
It has all of that and more as Whedon treads the line between appeasing the throbbing mass of Marvel hardliners and mainstream audiences.
What he does do very well is manage to give all 7 of the main players equal screen time without letting one character dominate proceedings.
Quick plot breakdown -
Nick Fury is director of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency. The agency is a who's who of Marvel Super Heroes, with Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When global security is threatened by Loki and his cohorts, Nick Fury and his team will need all their powers to save the world from disaster.
That pretty much sums it up - great special effects abound, superheroes fight each other, then fight super villains.
The fights are epic, all the characters interact well - Tony Stark (Robert Downy Jr) of course out classes most as he gets the best lines in the film.
The epilogue in the credits seems to point a sequel and given that The Avengers has made over one billion dollars world wide to date, its pretty much a given.
As far as big blockbusters go - this is how you do it right - Mr. Bay take note.
