Review - Fright Night

Yet another horror remake of a fairly decent film Fright Night is pretty good fun, whilst not reinventing the wheel.
If you haven't seen the 80s original the plot is pretty much the same - Teenager Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Colin Farrell) is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent (David Tennant), a self proclaimed vampire killer and Las Vegas magician, to help him take down Jerry.
There is a bit to like about this film. The acting is quite good, Toni Collette and all of the main players give credible performances even Mintz-Plasse does well with some horrendous dialogue.
Colin Farrell plays Jerry with an attitude of over-confidence and creepy awkwardness which works. David Tennant plays Peter Vincent and he is very good in the role playing a total D-bag but playing it well.

Twilight remake...pretty intense

The film was overly long but nothing was really achieved with the extra length (that's what she said). I think the film really lost out on an opportunity to have Farrell and Collette really play off each other and use their acting skills but alas instead of that they just went for explosions...thus is modern remake.
As far as remakes go this one is fine for a few frights that aren't actually that scary.
