Review - V/H/S

Horror anthology films seemed to have disappeared for a little while but with the advent of V/H/S they are back, retro style.
The set up for the movie is that a bunch of low rent criminals have been given a job - to break into a house and get an incriminating video tape (for those younger readers, tapes were the precursor to DVDs). When they get there they find the owner of the house dead and hundreds of videotapes. As the crims go through the tapes, we get to see five short horror stories...well six stories if you count the over arcing story...
V/H/S starts off the anthology with a cool little tale (no I'm not spoiling anything) and from there progresses through the various directors short stories. As with most anthologies the stories are not always as strong as one another but I guess it is a personal like or dislike as to which short story you like the best but there is something here for every horror fan. The one thing about all the stories is that are all either creepy, freaky or downright scary.
Angry Girl...
Apart from the varying quality in the stories, V/H/S does over stay its welcome as there is only some much hand held footage that you can handle in one sitting and this could well work as a TV series if they wanted to branch off in that direction.
The stories are directed by Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Ti West, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg, Radio Silence.
However there are a few twists on the found footage with webcam glasses and skype used in various stories.
Overall it is awesome to see this kind of film back and hopefully there will be more to come in the future.
