The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of...Gerrard Butler
3 films, 3 very different outcomes.
The Good - 300
Excellent film. Butler stars as King Leonidas leading 300 Spartans against the might of Persian army. Butler apart from being muscled up and MASSIVE is imposing as the king and the film would've lived or died on the strength of the actor playing the king and Butler does a great job and carries the film all the way through. Even though the Spartans sound like they are the united nations with all the accents in the film, it works well and due to this Butler became a very bankable star...
The Bad - The Ugly Truth
Ironic that The Ugly Truth comes in under the bad banner. Never the less, it is a pretty bad film. A formulaic rom-com with Gerrard Butler and the Queen of Rom-Coms HRH Katherine Heigel. Some awful dialogue and a healthy dash of Butler's charisma, that seems say Come to bed with me darling and I'll rock your world, afterwards though I'll give you a dutch oven...helps you forget the dialogue but the ultimate betrayal is had at the climax of the film with Butler falling in love...BS man, BS.
The Ugly - The Bounty Hunter
Ah, now we arrive at the ugly. The Bounty Hunter - dear me. Starring the saddest woman on the planet aka Jennifer Aniston this film continually drives both actors career toward a canyon Thelma and Lousie style.
A steaming pile of doo-doo or poo if you'd perfer.
That this purported rom-com, (I say purported because there was nary a laugh nor a romantic sentiment throughout the film), didn't
a) Didn't win the razzie or
b) didn't kill '2nd to Angelina' Aniston's or 'you used to be cool' Butler's career
is amazing in itself.
It was seriously that bad.
So after Butler has totally destroyed his rep, can he get to to top form and muscles...one can only hope.
